The show ran from 13th-14th October and proved a huge success. Crossgar Foodservice Exhibit at SHOP 09 - 28 October 2009 Crossgar Foodservice made their mark in Dublin exhibitng for the first time at the recent SHOP Exhibition in the RDS in Dublin which ran from 28th-30th September. The Crossgar Dexter Burger was entered into the Product of the Show Awards, where it was awarded 'Highly Commended' under the Best Irish Food Product section. Crossgar Foodservice Invests In New Fleet of Eco Vehicles - 27 October 2009 Crossgar Foodservice has announced a significant investment of £1 Million in new state-of the-art and eco-friendly vehicles, bringing its total fleet to more than 50. Forming part of ongoing investment for Crossgar Foodservice and a new greener agenda, the new vehicles will help enhance the overall experience of customers by increasing the efficiency and distribution capability of the company. Paul Bell, Managing Director of Crossgar Group comments: 'This investment marks a major milestone for the compnay's continued development in it's services and the wealth of products it supplies. Our main aim when sourcing the new vehicles was to minimise our carbon footprint.' The vehicles and various components were supplied by RK Trucks in Belfast, Frigoblock UK and Lifford Coachworks in Donegal. Two Local Food Companies - With Great Taste! - 7 September 2009 Leading the charge for Northern Ireland at the Recent Great Taste Awards in London were Crossgar Meats and Lissara Farm. Lissara Farm is one of three local companies to receive the coveted 3-star gold Great Taste Award for their Free Range Whole Duck. john Bell, Lissara Farm Crossgar commented: "Winning this award is a fantastic seal of approval for our Free Range Duck which is reared locally in Crossgar, Co Down, the product has a unique taste and texture and is being used by some of the top restaurants in Northern Ireland." Crossgar Meats also won, a 2-star gold Great Taste Award for their Dexter Dry Aged Fillet Steak. "Dexter cattle are a rare traditional Irish breed, their existence was first recorded in Ireland in 1776. They are the smallest breed of cattle and produce naturally marbled beef with unique flavour. Most people say it reminds them of how beef use to taste." Conor Bell, Director of Crossgar Meats commented. To Select the winners, three hundred jusged carried out blind tastings of over 4,800 different products that had been entered by 1,000 companies from all over the UK and Ireland. The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is acknowledged benchmark for speciality food and drink. It has been described as the 'Oscars' of the food world. Out of 4,873 entries this year, 308 products were awarded 2-gold stars, just 83 were awarded the highest accolade of 3-gold stars. Crossgar Foodservice 'Putts' on a great day - 29 July 2009 Crossgar Foodservice hosted it's 4th annual Corporate Golf and Spa Day on Monday 8th June 2009 at the Hilton Templepatrick Hotel and Country Club to reward customers and suppliers for their continued support. The event was sponsored by one of Crossgar Foodservice's key suppliers, Paganini, and saw over 120 of the company's clients and key members of the catering and food industry get into the swing of things at the fun-filled event. Crossgar Foodservice also took the opportunity to launch it's new range of wines in conjunction with Vivas Wines, part of the 3663 Group. Guests were treated to an exclusive tasting of the wines, designed specifically for Crossgar Foodservice and now available for order. Michael Morrissey, Foodservice Director at Crossgar Foodservice comments: "Our golf day is a great way to thank all those who have supported and worked with us throughout the year. I am also pleased to announce, that our golf day raised £770 of much needed funds for our nominated charity , The Ulster Cancer Foundation."
