The Janus Awards Supplier of the Year 2008 - 28 July 2009 Crossgar Foodservice is celebrating being named "Supplier of the Year 2008" at the Institute of Hospitality's 14th Annual Janus Awards. This Years awards took place at the Europa Hotel on Friday 1st May 2009. Kevin Smyth MIH, Chairman of the NI branch reflected on the awards. "With the Janus Awards, we aim to honour greatness across the industry and the people behind the business. Crossgar Foodservice demonstrated its ability to offer outstanding customer service whilst maintaining its main mission - to provide locally produced products. Crossgar's Dexter Beef makes an appearance on the Great British Menu - 1 May 2009
Local chef Danny Millar scooped the regional crown in the Great British Menu challenge. After a week of intense competition Danny Millar from Balloo House Killinchy, was triumphant over competitor Clare Smyth head chef at the three michelin-starred Gordon Ramsay restaurant Royal Hospital Road. This years theme represents a true "taste of home". Keeping with the theme Danny Millar remained true to his roots, using only fresh, local ingredients. Our very own Jason Hamilton (Commercial Manager) appeared on the Great British Menu alongside Danny Millar, highlighting the unique flavour of Dexter Beef. Danny was so impressed he used the Dexter Beef for his main course, which left Richard Corrigan's mouth watering and wanting more. The final decision was split but Danny, who won the regional final last year, achieved two of the three judges' votes. This year Danny is determined to get one of his dishes on to the banquet table. Crossgar Foodservice announce NI Charity of the Year - 25 March 2009
Crossgar Foodservice has chosen the Ulster Cancer Foundation as their designated Charity of the Year for NI. Crossgar Foodservice donated a generous amount to the charity in lieu of Christmas gifts to customers. Crossgar Foodservice has chosen the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation as their designated Charity of the Year for ROI. The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation was set up in 1997 by Jonathan Irwin. The foundation provides early intervention home respite to families with children up to the age of 4, with severe developmental delay who require extended care. Crossgar Meats launch Dexter beef range - 26 December 2008 In the New Year Crossgar Meats are launching the new and exclusive Crossgar Dexter Beef Range, in partnership with the Irish Dexter Producer Group. The Dexter cattle are the smallest native breed and originated in the west of Ireland. The breed matures slowly and yield beef of the highest quality. The beef is allowed to naturally dry age on the bone for a minimum of 21 days producing a dark, red meat marbled with uniquely yellow fat ensuring tender meat with a distinctive flavour, a perfect accompaniment to any menu.
